Hi.
Can I set Active RMA on virtual machine?
My HostMonitor is install on physical PC.
I'm trying to set RMA on virtual machine (both in the same local net):
I specified the "Host" for HostMonitor to the IP I got from www.whatismyip.com.
Specified the port as the port in HostMonitor --> Options --> Active RMA value.
Trying to activate the agent I get "connection error"
All is correct?
Thanks.
Active RMA on Virtual Machine?
>Can I set Active RMA on virtual machine?
Sure. Why not?
>I specified the "Host" for HostMonitor to the IP I got from www.whatismyip.com.
Are you using some web site to get information about your IP address?
H'm, if there are some NAT router, proxy, firewall than external web site may see different address then your system really using.
You may use standard Windows utility ipconfig.exe to check adaptor settings
Also your router or firewall may block connections...
Is there any firewall, router, antivirus installed between HostMonitor and Active RMA?
Are you sure your network configuration allows connections from system where Active RMA is installed to system where HostMonitor is running?
You may check RMA log files for error description.
Also you may use HostMonitor menu "View" -> "Active RMA status" to check is HostMonitor receives connection requests from agent. E.g. if agent uses invalid password or connection comes from restricted IP address, you will see such requests in the log.
Regards
Alex

ampo, don't listen to that.
Depending on your router you cannot use the same door (IP) to leave and re-enter.
When HM and AA are in the same subnet you should always use the LAN-IP of HM and not the 'whatismyip.com'-IP.
So if your HM runs at 192.168.1.12 you need to use that address in AA.
Hope that helps

H'm...
Rasc, you said 'don't listen to that' and than you told Ampo almost the same what I said
if there are some NAT router, proxy, firewall than external web site may see different address then your system really using.
You may use standard Windows utility ipconfig.exe to check adaptor settings
However we are not sure what network configuration is used by Ampo (probably RMA is installed on different network and "sees" external IP address) and we are not sure what exactly is reason of the problem so I offered some other options that should provide information about the problem.
What's wrong with this?

Yeah, Alex,
what you write now is exactly what I understood when reading your first post.
That might be one of your strenghtes. To understand topologies of customers and give easily understandable advice...
"Also your router or firewall may block connections". That shows your deep understanding about the issue. Especially towards a customer that says "both in the same local net"
Best regards

Yeah, sometimes I miss a word or two that play key role
It happens sometimes, probably because I work with 20-60 customers every day.
My mistake. Thank you for correction.
However 2 of 3 items from my answer are correct
- check IP address using ipconfig utility
- check logs and status window to see exact error description

Still connection error...
Hi.
Thanks for your replays.
My RMA is not in the same domain as HM.
I can ping from the RMA machine (windows server 2008 R2) to the HM machine.
In HM logs I see nothing about trying to connect...
What else can I do?
Thanks.
