Hello,

Is there anyway to create a report of all the failures/bad test that happen over night between 6:00 PM to 7:00 AM? then send this in a email?

Thanks

HostMonitor reports display current status of the test. I think you need to use logging option.
E.g. you may add "Record HM log" "bad" action into alert profiles assigned to the test items. Set 600PM-7AM schedule to the action, mark "Add record into specific log file" option and specify target file name.
Then you may create another action profile with 2 actions:
- "Send e-mail" action. Use <<IncludeFile=path_to_the_file>> directive in e-mail body
- "Execute external program" action. Use this action to remove used log file
Specify "on the schedule" option for these 2 actions and setup HostMonitor to launch alert profile every morning using built-in Scheduler (Options dialog)

Regards
Alex

I apologize. I didn't clarify myself correctly. It's not for an individual test, but all my tests. I would like to report only the tests (out of 150 +/-) that failed overnight

Yes, I understand.
That's why you should add "Record HM log" action into all profiles used by the tests

Thank you Alex.

I'm now having problems with the new action profile. Should the actions you suggested happen on the "bad status actions" or on the "good status actions"?

And how is it activated? Does it run even though it's not selected in "Alerts"?

Please check my 1st answer again.
I said "you may add Record HM log bad action into alert profiles assigned to the test items".
In other words, you don't need to create new action profile. You need to add this action into all profiles used by your test items.

I was referring to the second part of you answer...

Quote:

- "Execute external program" action. Use this action to remove used log file

The first part I have done.
I didn't quite understand how to do the second part.

What exactly you do not understand? How to create "scheduled" actions?
Just change "condition to start action" option from "standard mode" to "on the schedule"
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.htm#actions.htm#scheduledaction
It does not really matters what section do you chose for "scheduled" action: "bad" or "good".

Yes, I was having a hard time understanding the scheduled actions.
I got it setup as you suggested.

Thank you for your patience.

I'm receiving the emails that are suppose to have the overnight.htm report in it, but it states that no file has been found.
I double-ckecked the settings to make sure dir and filenames are correct and they are.
So I don't know why it's not creating the report.
I've checked the app event log, nothing in there. Thought it might be a permissions issue, so I got hostmon.exe running as admin, but that did help either.
Any ideas?

Do you use <<IncludeFile=path_to_the_file>> directive in e-mail body or you are trying to send file as attachment?
What version of HostMonitor do you use?

This is how I have it in the email:

<<IncludeFile=C:\Program Files (x86)\HostMonitor7\Logs\overnight.htm>>

The actual email from AHM says 'File not Found' including with the above statement.

Version 8.14
I'm on WIn 7 x64 if that is of any help.

Thanks

We just rechecked code and tested HostMonitor on Windows XP and 2003 - evrything works fine. We will check this option on Windows 7 as well but I think you just make mistake in file name. Could you please check it again?

Regarding Windows 7: are you sure you want to use for monitoring system OS that is not even offically released and not supported by software developer??

I double-checked the path_to_file strings. Their correct. Even copy and paste to make sure.

I looked in the syslog and it doesn't say anything. The only error it states, is when the email job is scheduled it complains about file not found.

I will ask my group if there is a server available to install this.

Thanks for you help.[/img]
