Editing MailList.lst
Is there any way to edit the mail.lst file via a binary reader / editor? I have a bunch of different email address sets that show up when I edit some tests. A bunch of them are are old sets and when ever I update a set, it makes a whole new group.
How do I delete these old set of Email Addy's from the alerts? I have a lot of different email sets.

You cannot edit binary file.
If you have many different mailing lists, in future I would recommend to use global macro variables instead of static addresses.

Well, you may remove actions.lst or take one from installation package.
In such case you will lose all your action profiles!!
BTW: there is no mail.lst file. HostMonitor does not use such file.
What exactly addresses do you want to change? I though you are talking about "send e-mail" action...

I'm sorry, I meant to type the MailList.lst file located at C:\Program Files\HostMonitor4. I was assuming it is the one that maintains the emails that you type into send alerts too.
I'll try and explain where the addresses are at. If you go to edit a test; configure alert profiles; Edit a send email action; in the To: field. There is a down arrow. When I click it it shows a series of Distribution Lists. If I go in and change one character in one of the DL's, it will make a new DL and add it to the top. So, if I make 5 single changes at 5 different times i'll have 5 DL"s in this series. I want to delete / remove all the DL's in this list that I don't need because of changes due to retirements or employment change. How do I got about cleaning that DL list out?
I was assuming it was in the MailList.lst location due to the name. If it's somewhere else, please let me know what to do to clean this up.

MailList.lst contains mail templates.I'm sorry, I meant to type the MailList.lst file located at C:\Program Files\HostMonitor4. I was assuming it is the one that maintains the emails that you type into send alerts too.
There is list of all files used by HostMonitor

Distribution List? Its simply combo box that allows you to choose address that already was used so you can save your time on typing. Its not a distribution list, its sort of history list. There is a down arrow. When I click it it shows a series of Distribution Lists. If I go in and change one character in one of the DL's, it will make a new DL and add it to the top.
You don't need to remove that itemsI want to delete / remove all the DL's in this list that I don't need because of changes due to retirements or employment change.

Simply type new address in the field. That's it

Alex, thank you for the reply. Just curious though, is there any way to clean that list out? It looks a mess and since it only shows the first 30 or more characters, a lot of my entries looks the same. When I go into update one entry, it takes the changes. When I go to another test and attempt to select the same entry from the list for another test, i have to guess and pray that the one I pick is right. it's no huge biggie, just a nicety.
Once again, I appreciate the help.
Its not much space in that dialog window and its not very easy to redesign everything because the same windows is used for 30 actions....
If you need to use the same address for various actions, then I would recommend to use global macro variables.

Alex,
I have to agree with mmitchell57. Whether it's the mail list he's describing or oher text boxes that utilize a history list, they often become cluttered with unnecessary entries.
Even IE allows me to right click an entry and delete/remove it from the list.
Alternatively, you could allow HM to self clean entries that go unused after ## of days. The number of days could possibly be defined in the [Options]/Misc. section. A button to Clear history could also be included here.
