Unknown Status

Post by StevenE »

I have many tests that the status indicates unknown when the test has failed.

I would like the test status to indicate Bad instead of unknown.
I have the "Treat Unknown status as Bad" option checked for the tests, yet they still show up as unknown.

This causes a problem when sorting all of our tests by Status and sometimes the unknown items are off the screen.

Is there a way to configure the Unknown status's to show up as BAD.

Thanks

Unknown status means HostMonitor could not retrieve information. E.g. NT Event Log test displays Bad status when specific event was detected in the log; NT Event Log test displays Unknown status when HostMonitor could not connect to Event Log manager and could not retrieve information from the log.
Unknown cannot be displayed as Bad however you may use the same colors and the same actions for tests with Bad and Unknown status.
If you want to see all Unknown and Bad statuses on the same screen, its pretty easy to setup such View

I already have a custom view setup sorted by Status everything except Normal status.

So the order we see on the screen is.

Bad Items
Warning Items
Unknown Items

Sometimes there are many Warning items and the unknown items can't be seen without scrolling down and sometimes go unnoticed. ( we don't want sound for everything ).

I was hoping for a way to set some of the tests that show Unknown to display bad so they would listed at the top and wouldn't be missed.

H'm.. if there are too many items, you have to sroll down anyway. If we change priority and you will see all Unknown(Bad) items some Warning items will be out of screen

True,

We try to have any that is less critical set as warning, things we do not necessary have to act on. Unfortunately the unknown items show up after the warning items.

That was why I was looking for a way to have some of the unknown items show up as bad.

There is no such option.
I think if Unknown status is more important than Warning (in your case) and you want to see all Bad and Unknown on one screen, you may create one View for Bad+Unknown, another View for Warning items.
