SNMP Trap with APC UPS

Post by Vanno »

Hi

I have all my regular SNMP tests working properly, however I am unable to get my SNMP traps working for an APC UPS. The OID is correct, but even when the UPS does go to battery, no alert is sent. I was wondering if you could look at my setup and tell me where I am going wrong.

Thanks

I have it set as 'set "Bad" status if received message satisfies:'
SNMP device is set with the UPS's IP address (Any from the following)
Trap type (generic) is set to 'Any'
Trap type (ent. specific) is set to 'Any'
Enterprise (sysObjectID) is set to 'Any'
'message contains OID' is checked with the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.4 with the condition that it doesn't contain 2

'set "Ok" status if no "bad" trap received within 5 sec'

I think 1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.4 is not complete OID. Probably it should be "1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.1.4.1.1.0" (upsBasicOutputStatus)?

If you change filter settings (disable "message contains OID" option), you will see exactly message comes from your UPS and then setup correct test settings. Also you may use IP-Tools' Trap Watcher utility for the same purpose
