Compare Files - enhancement request

Post by JuergenF »

Dear KS-Soft-Team,

when I compare the "Text Log" Test to the "Compare Files" Test, there is a function missing in the "Compare Files" Test.

I'd like to use:
Warn of "all new events" Display "found line [8..99]"
using the "Compare Files" Test

Many thanks

H'm  There is no "new" or "old" records for "Compare Files" test method. It checks file as it is without any information ragarding previous status of the file. IMHO this option would not have much sense...

Hi Alex,

of course, you are right.

What I really ment was:
"Compare Files" can Alert when file contains a String. (why not looking for an expression too, as in "Text Log")
And the main thing I would need:
Why not Display a part of the found line as in "Text Log" test method.
Display "found line [26..99]".

I have lines like this and want to strip off the date and time to compare
Reply and LastReply if anything has changed (time will always be different)
Fri Nov 9 13:05:03 2007 Error1 Error2
Fri Nov 9 15:05:03 2007 Error1 Error2

Fri Nov 9 19:05:03 2007 Error1 Error2 Error3
Fri Nov 9 21:05:03 2007 Error1 Error2

Reply should be:
Error1 Error2
Error1 Error2
Error1 Error2
Error1 Error2 Error3
Error1 Error2

"All new events" is rubbish, sorry for that.

I hope it's clear now ?
