Hi:
We have a lot of databases running in Solaris. From what I am reading, is it correct that we cannot install HostMonitor server software on UNIX, but we can install server on a windows box and install RMA for UNIX on the database servers and then monitor them ?
I have extensively used Hostmonitor server / RMA for Windows, but is there any difference for RMA for Unix ?
Are there any particular tests that cannot be done on Unix that run on Windows ?
Please advise.
Thanks.

Minor difference.vidyagana wrote:I have extensively used Hostmonitor server / RMA for Windows, but is there any difference for RMA for Unix?
You may read more information regarding RMA for Unix here:

Please, take a look on following table: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/index-tests.htmvidyagana wrote:Are there any particular tests that cannot be done on Unix that run on Windows?
I think, it is what you are looking for.

Max,
Thank you for the quick response.
I have a question about the table that you forwarded about comparison for tests and platforms. For eg., I went to the "Database related tests" portion of the table and I went to see for Oracle and I see that under "RMA for Unix" it says "-". Does that mean if my database is under Unix platform, I cannot do ODBC tests?
Please help me understand that.
Thanks.

Do you mean ODBC for Unix? No, RMA for Unix is unable to run ODBC tests. However, you may create datasource on Windows machine instead.vidyagana wrote:Does that mean if my database is under Unix platform, I cannot do ODBC tests?
RMA for Linux / FreeBSD / Solaris allows you to perform tests that HostMonitor cannot perform. You may create ODBC dataource on Windows machine, to connect to the database running on Unix machine, and use HostMonitor itself or RMA for Windows for such purposes.
