Nokia CardPhone 2.0 SMS

Post by kgardas »

We have a hostmonitor server running on Windows 2000 Advanced Server. We want to use a Nokia CardPhone 2.0 pcmcia card to send sms alerts through a pcmcia to pci converter. Is that possible? What modem type should we use?

I think it is possible.

If you do not see your phone in the list, you may try to choose similar model. You may try Nokia 9110, 6650, 6210.

Could you please download the following update?
http://www.ks-soft.net/download/ksgsmxlib.zip

You just should copy it into HostMonitor folder. Please, do not forget stop HostMonitor before copying.

It means you have not specified Primary GSM account on Options > GSM page. Beside Modem type you must specify PIN and Service Center number. If you do not know exact PIN code to the SIM card, please type 1111. Service center number you may find in your SIM card (trough phone settings) or on your mobile operator's site.

Max,

My sim card is setup not to ask a pin number when used in a cell phone. When I enter "1111" I get the following error:

"Sending...
Com port open .. Ok
Com port close .. Ok
Error: Cannot send message to 6945938910. GSM modem error. +CMS ERROR: 300 "ME failure" was returned on AT command: AT+CPMS?"

Best Regards

The most of mobile phones support message class 0 and 2. Try to select SMS mode "Display immediately",SIM or TE.

BTW. What mode did you specify in Options > GSM > Mode dropdown, PDU or Text? PDU mode is recommended.

I have tried all the 4 sms types....

I specify PDU as mode but I have checked Text too. I set up sim pin number to "1111" but I get the following error from hostmonitor although it works from a cell phone

"Sending...
Com port open .. Ok
Com port close .. Ok
Error: Cannot send message to 6944414513. GSM modem error. +CMS ERROR: 311 "SIM PIN required" was returned on AT command: AT+CPMS?"

Thank you

So, looks like your SIM card is locked. You need to know real PIN code to use it with HostMonitor. Do you know the PIN code to your SIM card? 1111 is default PIN from vendor.

Hm. Strange. You may get such error only when PIN code or Service Center number field is empty. As I know, PIN code number should be a four digits.
