Hi,

I am monitoring a static webpage with URL request test. Sometimes I get "Bad content" status, which I would like to know the reason for. I setup "Check contents" feature to make sure my page is in place. Is it somehow possible to make Hostmonitor log the responses of URL request? Especially the "Bad content" responses would be helpful, but I could of course dig it out from a continous log.

thanks for suggestions.

I'm affraid, HostMonitor is not able to log Http response of URL request as you want. However, you may try HTTP test. This test also could not log the HTTP response, but it offers you the "Test" button, that may show full response information from the server.
URL test: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.htm#tests.htm#url
HTTP test: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.htm#tests.htm#http

When HostMonitor cannot retrieve page at all, it marks test as "No answer" and Reply value will be empty. "Bad" status means HostMonitor gets responce from web server but responce contains some HTTP error (e.g. 404 page not found or 302).

Regards,
Max

I was afraid of that
You know, "bad content" in my tests happens unrecognizably. When I make a double check it is OK. When I look in the log 5 minutes later the result is OK. When I run a external program on the fail event (2 seconds later), it also has the whole page. So the only help would be to know why has Hostmonitor said it had bad content. Maybe as a new feature

regs,
Peter

We already have such feature in our "to do list", but I do not know, when it will be implemented.

I would suggest you to check your webserver logs regarding particular HostMonitor's requests in certain time.

Max

If you are using HostMonitor version 6 or higher, its not a problem. Macro variable %httppage% can be used as parameter of an action triggered by the URL or HTTP test method.
Note: HostMonitor will not show more than the first 32768 (32K) characters of the web page, RMA returns only the first 2048 (2K) characters of the page.

You may setup some action (e.g. Send E-Mail action) using %httppage% macro variable as parameter of the action

Regards
Alex
