Your license will never expire. However, after initial purchase of any license you are eligible to update your software at no cost for 6 or 12 months. Additionally, after free updates period expires, you will be eligible for any new releases and updates at special low prices.

You may use licensed version of HostMonitor as long as you need. If you want to install the newest version of HostMonitor, you may use Help > Update Check menu option to check if your license allows you to use it.

what determines the 6 or 12 month period?

Does this period begin from invoice date?
