SMSing

Post by Lloyd »

Hello,

I'm trying to setup SMSing but everytime i try to do a test sms i get the following error.

Error: Cannot send SMS. Primary GSM account is not specified

i have setup the Msg class to '2.sim' and the GSM settings as below

Modem Type: Ericsson GM12 (tried others as well)
Mode: Tried Both options
Service Centre: Vodafone Australia's Number
+61-415011501

I Have:
Host Monitor 6.10
Sony Ericsson GM29 (SMSing)
Windows 2003 SP1

Any help would greatly be appreciated, Host Monitor is a great time saver for an understaffed I.T. area like mine and this would make life much easier for me

Thank you

This error means you have not specify the SMS service center number or PIN code on Options > GSM tab. You may find that number in your phone setings or on the your opertor's site.

Hi

Just came across this one as I got the same error "Cannot send SMS. Primary GSM account is not specified" when using the Test function within the GSM settings.

It turned out that HostMonitor wants a PIN code entered even if a PIN code is not needed in order to send an SMS through the selected terminal.
After entering a bogus code that in the end isn't used everything worked fine.

I'll suggest that either the text of error message is beeing changed (as the primary GSM account *was* in fact specified but I didn't enter a PIN code as it wasn't needed) or that HostMonitor tries to send the test message anyway. If sending fails because the terminal replies that it needs a PIN code I suppose that it will show in the log.

Not a big deal at all but I just wanted you to know.

Best regards

Yes, COM port, PIN and Service Center number must be specified.

Yes, probably it should be more clear...
Thanks
