Hi, we have been using hostmonitor trial version for about two months now and eventually bought a license last week. The software was setup as a service on windows 2003 server. Today it crashed for no reason and the service wouldn't restart. I had to reboot the PC to get it to come back up and when I did I received the following in a windows program fault message:
Hostmon.exe encountered a problem
Appver:0.0.0.0 modname:kernel32.dll
Modver:5.2.3790 offset: 000249V5
This is the frist problem we have had with Hostmonitor and really like the software but a bit worried about this problem. Any ideas? We are using the latest version and have about 30 tests steup all with email alerts.
Service crashed and wont restart.
If you have to restart PC, then problem must be outside of HostMonitor.and the service wouldn't restart. I had to reboot the PC to get it to come back up
Have you installed Service Pack 1 for Windows 2003?
Do you use ODBC logging or ODBC Query test method? If yes, what ODBC driver do you use?
Do you have installed some antivirus monitor? Personal firewall? Conent monitoring software? Non-standard winsock components?
What version of HostMonitor do you use?
Regards
Alex
event viewer is full of this:
Faulting application hostmon.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.0, fault address 0x000249d3.
Which repeats every 30 seconds or so as the service crashed and then trys to start again.
We are using hostmonitor version 5.92
We have no odbc settings, only pings, service checks, url links, a temp monitor and thats it so far.
We dont have any antivirus on that server as it is the controller of the virus vault for the rest of the network.
Its all running fine now after reboot and we will monitor it to make sure it doesn't happen again. fingers crossed.
