I've tried a lot of monitoring software - HostMonitor is my favourite one.
Now we have proactive management. And self-healing functions (using the Restart service function)

- We are monitoring about 50 locations all over the world from one central HostMonitor
- It's running about 750 tests
- The Remote Monitoring Agent (RMA) feature is very helpful
- - You can have a look from location B to C having HM in A (and an agent in B)
- - We use about 30 RMA agents
- - Cross platform support is implemented in RMA
- The help file is very good.
- - Read it on a cold winter weekend. It's worth.
- - And you'll get many ideas for new tests in your environment.
- The GUI is very easy and good
- You can export and import plain text files. Great for Scripting and mass import
- Defining dependencies will show you exactly where the chain is broken
- Running Rock Solid
- Compare the price to others
- - Enterprise edition + Lifetime updates - $799
- - All new features for the rest of Alex's life - Live long and prosper
- - RMA Agent price is more than OK
I'm sure that I missed dozens of great features ...

- Always quick responses to forum posts
- Normally an answer is given within one day !! (today he needed 20 minutes !!)
- Special bugfixes
- Special enhancements for me (i.e. SNMP test for increases /sec)
- Help on license problems
One reason not to buy HostMonitor: If you need a graphical presentation of your network.
