Problem:
We have a website where even the first page has items on it that are being populated from a backend database. Every night the site goes down for about 30 minutes. If you try to access the site you get an error message but it is not the standard 404 error. It is a custom error message that the webmasters have put in. Is it possible to do a url check or something similar and report back as DOWN if we get the custom message? I just can't figure out how to understand the custom web page message or even a generic 404 message. Any help or sample scritp would be highly appreciated.

I don't see any problem. Both (URL and HTTP) test methods provide "Check content" option:
