Hello,

HostMonitor running as service hangs and I am getting the following message in the application eventlog:

The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( hostmon.exe ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Access violation at address 0041E203 in module 'hostmon.exe'. Read of address 01EE6F50.

OS: Windows 2003
HM: 5.30

Thanks and Regards

Could you please provide more information:
- do you use ODBC logging or ODBC Query test method? If yes, what ODBC driver do you use?
- Do you use SNMP Get or Network Traffic test methods?
- Do you have Norton Antivirus Monitor or McAfee installed on the system?

Regards
Alex

Hi Alex,

a) No ODBC tests

b) Plenty of Network Traffic and SNMP Get tests, most test CISCO routers, a few environment probes

c) No Antivirus system installed on that server

Hope that helps and many thanks.

Regards, Jürgen

Have you replaced mgmtapi.dll?
Windows 2003 has bug in mgmtapi.dll that often produces such error http://www.ks-soft.net/cgi-bin/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1301
