Trying to record my broadband up/down time

I am having some intermittant connection issues with my broadband service. I want to know is there a way to have IP-Tools monitor if the service is up/down and keep that information in a historical log?

I think you can use "HostMonitor" utility, it can ping some host and records information about results.
