Trying to montor the traffic on a Cisco 3750 Fiber port. It was working for about 15 minutes and when I changed from being every 10 minutes polling to 5 seconds the Reply field shows "Access violation at address 004c78c4 in module 'HOSTMON.EXE'. Read of address 0000008

What could be causing this? It will not go away even if I switch back to the 10 minute polling

Please, always provide information about Windows version and HostMonitor version.
I assume you are using Windows 2003? It has well know bug in mgmtapi.dll. Please read this article http://www.ks-soft.net/cgi-bin/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=1301
