Hello,
I installed 4.70 some weeks ago (on NT4) and today I wanted to install 4.74 on a diff pc (winXP) but with the settings of 4.70 (so I backupped action.lst,schedule.lst, the hml and the ini file
Installing 4.74 works fine only when I copy the lst, hml & ini files
and I load it, it seems to crash when it checks or starts the smtp server for sending email.
help
Regards,

Could you please provide more information?
- How exactly it crashed? Have you seen any error messages?
- XP: Professional? Home? Service Pack? Have you installed latest security updates from Microsoft?
Our XP test systems doesn't work at all after installing latest security updates from Microsoft, system crashes right after log on.
Regards

When I load it with a fresh install it loads normal no crashing.
I close it after, I copy the .hml, .lst, & .ini files over from a 4.70.
I load it again, and it tries to send an email after startup : I get this error :
hostmon.exe - Application Error
The exception unknown software exception (0x0eedfade) occured in the application at location 0x77e73887.
Then I click cancel (since clicking OK give me same error over and over), and I get The exception cannot continue
Windows cannot continue from this exception
(0xc0000025) occured in the application at location 0x77f87be8
Click on OK to terminate the program
I have tried it with 4.70 & 4.74, both crash only at email send.
When I remove the mail settings, it works normally.

Of course crash is abnormal behavior. But... HostMonitor depends on many DLLs, just like any other Windows application. It looks like some 3rd party DLL is reason of this crash. 0x77e73887 - address outside of HostMonitor's code, that why I cannot say where is exactly error occured.
McAfee may replace some system DLLs, may be some of them doesn't work correctly.
What version of the McAfee do you have installed? May be problem fixed in newer release?
Regards
