I´m using Windows 2k Professional SP4 and the HM 4.14.
I´m trying to sent error messages via modem to a handy using the tap protocol.
But when it tries to connect I´m getting the following error code:
CALL FAILED - NO DIAL TONE

Can anybody help me?

I´m living in Germany and want to use the telekom telephonenet, does anybody has experiences with that theme?

Thank you

Hi,
the problem above is done. I made a phone bypass at the termination at the modem and now I´m getting a free line.
But now I´ve got another problem.
The HM connects and equalize the password, but when the HM sends the message I get the following error code:
Error: Block was NAK´d five times

Can I disable the acknoledge function, so that HM doesn´t want an acknoledge?

Please answer fast, because I need it for my training!

Thank You

hello ghostwalker,

i'm from germany, too and i have the same problem like you in your first post. what do you mean with a "phone bypass"? unfortunately, i get the same error: no dial tone.

i would be glad, if you can tell me (perhaps in german) how you solve the problem.

I think you have a unacceptable pager ID. PageNet assigns separate alpha PIN numbers than the pager phone number. The alpha pin number is what you should use in the Pager ID parameter.

What do you mean with alpha pin number?

@magicpiano
Ich habe eine Rufumleitung für diesen Anschluss programmiert, und jetzt generiert unsere Telefonanlage ein ähnliches Freizeichen wie die Telekom, welches vom Modem und vom HM akzeptiert wird.

@ghostwalker:
ok, da muss ich mir wohl was anderes einfallen lassen bzw. alex fragen. denn mit telekommunikationssachen wie z.b. rufumleitung programmieren kenne ich mich überhaupt nicht aus! trotzdem danke für die info!

@alex:
do you know other possibilities to solve the problem with the error: no dial tone? i use the TYPHOON SILVER CREST 56K V.90 V/D/F EXTERNAL MODEM (analog on com port).

I am not sure about your modem (you should check manual) but many modems support ATX3 command that tells the modem to ignore dial tone and just dial. So, try to use "ATZ~ATX3~" as modem init string.

BTW English is official language of the forum. If you have some private talk, you may send e-mail. Forum allows you to send mails without publishing your address

I mean "Pager ID" may be different from "pager phone number". You should ask your provider about this ID.

I have fixed the problem with the dial tone, but I don´t want to use a telephone bypass because I don´t get any connections with that phone.
So I want to know if there is an option, like in windows (don´t wait until dial tone) in the HM?
I didn´t find it until yet.

@Alex: Sorry for talking geman

Why you don't want to use ATX3 command? It works exactly like Windows option "don't wait for dial tone".
It doesn't work with your modem?

@ghostwalker: have you fixed the Error: Block was NAK´d five times? what telephone number do you use to send alerts per sms? is it an official number or an individual number only for your use? perhaps, we find together a solution for our problem! the tip with the arx3~ init string works fine

@alex: sorry for writing in german. your tip with the arx3~ init string works fine. but i get the same Error: Block was NAK´d five times like ghostwalker!

Strange... I sent answer yesterday, and I have seen my post yesterday.. but I do not see it now.

Anyway, as I said pager ID can be different from pager phone number. Did you speak with your service provider about pager ID or "alpha PIN number"? Probably you just use wrong ID.

@magicpiano
Yes I could fix the problem, but I don´t really know why!
The number is an offical from the telekom, it is:
0171/2521002
This is the number of the SMS-Center from the Telekom,
there is another number but that didn´t work and I don´t know it at the moment.

@Alex
I will try that. Thanks

@ghostwalker: i tried it with the number 0171/2521002. but i get the same Error: Block was NAK´d five times! perhaps, you have other settings ("Max. Character", "Parity", etc.)?! have you found out, if the telekom makes a difference between mobile-phone-number and pager id?

@Alex:

Hi Alex, unfortunately i still have the problem with the Error: Block was NAK´d five times. The number i use is the right number for TAP. In an other application sending messages per TAP with this number works fine.

here is the log that is written:

Log (Port: TAPI, Baud rate: 9600, Init string: ATZ~ATX3~, Dial string: ATDT)

Initializing Modem
Dialing 0XXXXXXXXXXX
Connected
Sending Password
Password Accepted
Sending Msg 1 Block 1
Sending Msg 1 Block 1
Sending Msg 1 Block 1
Sending Msg 1 Block 1
Sending Msg 1 Block 1
Sending Msg 1 Block 1
Block was NAK'd five times. Completed: 0 of 1

Have you any other ideas how i can fix the problem?

regards
markus
