Hi,

We generate a large number of 'user friendly' reports to send to various staff, enabling them to have an overview of performance/availability for key customer facing services. This all works very well (it can keep management off your back, I thoroughly recommend it!)

These would be enhanced even further if the reports used the same display values for their Y axis scale as tests set with a specific “Display Mode”.

Let me give an example;

I generate a report with 2 graphs that show the uptime of our mail and web servers – derived from a Performance Counter reading ‘sys uptime’ from the relevant servers. In the tests ‘Display Mode’ is set to “sec -> [days] ….”, whilst in the chart the raw uptime in seconds is used for the Y axis - this is relatively unreadable for a non-technical person. There are many other (probably better!) examples I could give.

Is it possible to have an option to generate reports with “Display Mode” settings for the axis?

Many Thanks
Fergus

As I understand you are talking about charts that is created by Log Analyzer?
I see some problems here. Log Analyzer checks log files and doesn't know anything about test settings. On the other hand some configurable options for log records (that are dynamic and may disappear) will not be convenient.
Probably this option can be implemented as parameter of the Report Profile...

Regards
Alex

"Probably this option can be implemented as parameter of the Report Profile... " You've have hit the nail on the head.

I imagine this would be quite tricky to program in to the system given the separation (rightly so) between Log Analyser and AHM. I certainly see this as 'nice to have' rather than essential functionality. As you have said in earlier posts, the clean format of the log files enables 3rd party graphing tools to be used for creating more complex and refined charts.

Many Thanks
Fergus
