What test did you check?

Service check

So it seems there must be a work-around for Note #1. It's strange however that the first test worked as expected and the second not.

Tests are scheduled to run every 10 minutes.

Strange. It should check/establish connection every time test performed.
How did you check that no request for connection received? Using Event Log? Or some sniffer?

Eventlog on the remote server: All login actions are logged (successfull or failure).

No logging = no connection (attempt)
