I'm having the same issues, but I'm using Windows 7 where my RMA agents are installed. I tried a 2008 server and server 2003 for my RMA install and I can't seem to get anything but no answer.

I've confirmed I can log into the /mob of my host.

Is there something I'm missing when I first setup IE firewall setting or the hostname need's to be a URL not an IP?

how did you specify ESXi host?
Try using IP. E.g.
Borwser: https://10.10.0.1/mob
VM host status Host: 10.10.0.1
(just replace with your IP)
User account credentials, specified in "Connect as" option should be the same as used for mob service in web browser.
Do you have some firewall installed on RMA system?
Have you tried mob service address from RMA system?

Also, please check RMA settings ("Test settings" page of Remote Monitoring Agent setup utility). What option is selected for
"Select how RMA should access the net in order to perform URL tests" ?
Try to use "direct to net"

Changing my RMA to "Direct to net" made the difference!

All my testing situations are all working!

Thanks for the reply back!

I finally got this to work by increasing the timeout value from 2000 to 6000.
