Hi!
HM forms the monitoring core for our IT Ops Team, and HM Web Service pages are the default for all staff. It transforms their jobs because they do not have to use “best effort and endeavour” to understand the behaviour and availability of the multitude of applications and hardware we have.
Q: Is it possible to have folder comments (and ideally a new function for folders “related URL" link) showing in the HM Web Service pages?
Justification: This is because monitors are arranged into logical groups that show all the independencies for a particular service (have you ever counted the unbelievable number of servers and apps required to get a mail message successfully through a corporate firewall!!!)
I use the comments and related URL for each monitor to provide the various documentation, how to’s and fixes for each service. However this creates a lot of duplication..9 times out of ten it would be far simpler to have a comment and related URL for each logical grouping for a service, i.e a folder (and then use the comment and URL feature for each individual monitor to give the necessary further level of granularity for all the component pieces)
It would make a big difference!
If you do this I will promise never to ask again for a “display mode” feature in the SNMP tests
Many Thanks
Fergus

Hi,
Great news..
I think a popup window is in keeping with the overall behaviour of HM. An image by the folder name would be good.
Many Thanks
Fergus

There is test version available at www.ks-soft.net/download/webs103.zip
Using this version of Web Service you can click on bulb (that represents status of the tests in the folder) beside folder name and you will see folder's comment in new window.
If some comment line starts with 'http://', 'https://' or 'ftp://', this line will be displayed as URL.
Regards
Alex
