Connecting to SQL Server instances

Post by bryons »

I just downloaded HostMonitor and it looks like it will serve most of my needs, but I have a question: How do you go about checking a SQL server instance named like Hostname\Instancename on port 1035?

Theoretically you may use Hostname\Instancename format for "server" field of the test. MS SQL client components will query hostname computer running SQL Server to determine address/port for the instance
Doesn't work?

I had a lot of varibles to test but I eventually proved that it does work as long as you use a SQL account. Is it possible to use a domain account for this kind of check?
