problems with RMA for Windows

Post by vidyagana »

Hi Alex,

I have the following configuration setup in one of our clients:

1. We have a webserver where I have installed Advanced Host Monitor with typical configuration.
2. I have two database servers where I went through custom installation and installed RMA for Windows. I have started the service. These machines have to logged out most of the time. I notice that every day atleast twice the RMA for Windows is not running and I have to manually start the service again. This is happening in both the machines. Please let me know if that is a known issue or I can do something about it.

Thanks.

As usual I need more information:
- Windows version?
- Service Pack?
- RMA version?
- any errors in NT Event Log?

Regards

On the HostMonitor system:

Windows version - Windows 2000 Version 5.0 Service Pack 4
RMA manager Version 2.00
No errors in Event Log

On one remote system:

Windows version - Windows 2000 Version 5.0 Service Pack 3
RMA Win Version 2.02
Error message in System Log: The KS Remote Monitoring Agent service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.
Event ID : 7031, Source=Service Control Manager
No Failure audits from RMA-Win

On another remote system:

Windows version - Windows 2000 Version 5.0 Service Pack 3
RMA Win Version 2.02
Error message in System Log: The KS Remote Monitoring Agent service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 0 milliseconds: No action.
Event ID : 7031, Source=Service Control Manager

Following message in failureaudit from RMA-Win
[6/22/2005 3:53 PM] RMAService Error: cannot open port #1055. Probably port in use
[6/22/2005 3:53 PM] RMAService Error: cannot open port #1055. Probably port in use

So I changed the port to 1056 and still getting the following error.

[6/22/2005 4:01 PM] RMAService Error: cannot open port #1056. Probably port in use

Please help.

Thanks.

I would recommend to upgrade agent to version 3.10 (at least).
RMA 3.10 included in Advanced Host Monitor package version 5.10. If your license is not valid for this version, you may install agent only (without updating HostMonitor)

How can I check if my license will allow to upgrade to 3.10. Please let me know. And if I am eligible for the upgrade, where should I find the upgrade path?

Thanks.

PS. Lite and Standard license allows you to upgrade software within 6 months after initial purchase. Professional and Enterprise licenses - 12 months.
