IPTools can't find help files with F1
IPTools can't find help files with F1
IP Tools v2.50 points to a file on disk but it is not the help file under d:\program files\...
The English help files are there and there's a shortcut from the start menu group but F1 does not go to that sib-directory.
How can I fix that?

What exactly error message do you see?
If IP-Tools is installed into C:\Program Files\IP-Tools\ directory, English help files should be located in C:\Program Files\IP-Tools\DOC\English\ directory.
Do you see following files in such directory?
GLOSSARY.HTM
index.htm
info.htm
ipt_lic.htm
ipt_news.htm
ipt_opt.htm
MFRAME.HTM
OTHER.HTM
sendmail.htm
title.htm
TLIST.HTM

Get back a message box that says exactly this: "The file /c:/program cannot be found. Please check the location and try again."KS-Soft wrote:What exactly error message do you see?

The files are where they should be. They are the right files.
Oops. Wrong pew. Sorry. Won't happen again. Thanks.
H'm, may be Firefox incorrectly process command line parameters that contain space(s). Could you try to type command "firefox.exe c:\Program Files\IP-Tools\Doc\index.htm"?
If I am right, there are 2 possible solutions:
1) setup some other web browser as default browser
2) or simply install IP-Tools into directory without spaces in the name. E.g. C:\IP-Tools

This works: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" "c:\temp\english\index.htm"KS-Soft wrote:H'm, may be Firefox incorrectly process command line parameters that contain space(s). Could you try to type command "firefox.exe c:\Program Files\IP-Tools\Doc\index.htm"?

So does this: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" "file:///c:%5Cprogram%20files%5Cip-tools%5Cdoc%5Cenglish%5Cindex.htm"
And, so does this: "C:\WINNT\explorer.exe" "file:///c:%5Cprogram%20files%5Cip-tools%5Cdoc%5Cenglish%5Cindex.htm"
The chances of giving up Firefox are zero or less.
The chances of not putting programs under c:\program files are equally slim.
Maybe there is something that can be done within IP-Tools coding.
All other programs I run using on-disk help files and my default browser seem to work.
Any other thoughts?
Thank you for your help, Alex.
Once I figured out this was only the IP-Tools executable and put it in the program directory, I hit F1. Firefox opens, then I get this:KS-Soft wrote:Could you try this update:
Alex
The file /c:/program files/ip-tools/doc/english/mframe.htm#info.htm#page8 cannot be found.
Please check and try again.
Thanks for working on this. I'm glad to help you test changes.
Yes, I'm aware at least one other program I use specifies IE to view a HTML help file. As it's well neigh impossible to get rid of IE, that might be a good approach. I will try and contain my dislike for MS's market tactics while I read IE-Tools help file.KS-Soft wrote:We can add some option that will tell IP-Tools to use some specific browser instead of default.

Thanks, Alex.
Ok, there is update www.ks-soft.net/download/ipt250e.zip
You may add
HelpViewer=<path to the browser>
line into [Environ] section of the ip_tools.ini file and restart IP-Tools.

This works in [Environ] section: HelpViewer=C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IExplore.exeKS-Soft wrote:Ok, there is update www.ks-soft.net/download/ipt250e.zip
Thank you, Alex.
Please be aware that I will grind my teeth and scowl at the monitor while I look at the IP-Tools help file.
