RAS Test and Default Gateway

Post by jromariz »

Hi Alex,

I just configured a RAS test and faced a problem. The computer that´s running hostmon is connected do my LAN. When the RAS test is started, all the connectivity of the computer to the LAN is lost. I´ve tried to disable the "use remote network default gateway" option so no new route would be created when the the dial-up connection is stablished but the problem remains.

Any ideas?

May be RAS server provides IP address/mask from the same subnet (the same subnet that is used for LAN interface)?
BTW What Windows do you use? Servce Pack?

Alex,

I just found the problem. The address that the RAS connection is receiving is 10.x.x.x/8 and I have another network, which is reacheable via the local network, that has address 10.3.0.x/24. This way, when the RAS connection is stablished, hostmon tries to reach the 10.3.0.x network via RAS connection!

Thanks for helping.
