Dear all,
I have a problem testing an https site.
Site is running behind a firewall, so I have to use the http proxy.
This site has no DNS mapping, so I have to specify the IP address. By specifying this IP, it seems that the connection is refused by the firewall. This is why I thing that the URL/IP request don't go to the proxy specified in the options.
Is there a solution to this problem ?
Thanks and best regards,
Sebastien |

Do you use "via named proxy" HostMonitor's option that specify how HostMonitor access the net to retrieve URLs? This option located on Connection (Access method) page in the Options dialog. Proxy settings located on next (Proxy) page in the same Options dialog.

I am already using this option...
After more investigation. It seems that the problem occurs only with https.
Behind a proxy, try to create a URL test for :
https://www.wdcs.novartispharma.com:443/ -> this works fine
If now we try to create the same test (same website) with the IP instead of the server name
https://164.109.59.171:443/ -> this does not work
Any idea ?
Regards,

Do you have this problem only with HostMonitor? Or your browser (like IE or Netscape) works in the same way?

Could you provide address of your proxy for testing? Does it require authentication? Better send this information by e-mail to our address line1@ks-soft.net

Our proxy address is x.x.x.x (send by e-mail) running port y.
There is not authentification (user/passwd).
But I am not sure that requests are accepted from outside our compagny.
regards,
Sebastien

Hi , I am also haveing trouble testing http sites via the url test. I have set a test for a website that I own and it replies "no answer". I can browse the same site on the same box using ie6 , I use MS proxy server 2 and I have set it up within the program with a user/pass?

Sebastien,
sorry for delay, it was a lot of work.
I tried to test HostMonitor using your proxy server, unfortunately I am unable to connect to proxy server at all. It does not respond to ping, probably your server accessible from your network only?
BTW If somebody has problem with URL test and dynamic pages (ASP, CGI, etc), please check "Agent name" option located on Miscellaneous page in the Options dialog. Some server-based scripts can check agent name and returns different information for different HTTP agents (e.g. generate different HTML pages for IE or Netscape). You can change this parameter to get correct results.
Regards
