Win32 error #1722

Post by chunger »

So after all that, what is the solution???

I had the exact thing happen to me. All weekend several subdomains had this error. As I am reading the posts here, the errors at a couple of the sites cleared. Still have the error with one site.

The postings prior to this did not give much of a solution or places to look.
I am running 4.80 on a Dell server. All service packs and updates are current. Thanks

same win32 error#5 and #1722

Post by igorl »

hello,

I am running hostmon v 5.70 on winxp pro, checking services in same domain on w2k and w2k3 servers, hostmon installed as a service running under a domain admin account.

when I boot the workstation and hostmon starts checks everything works, after some time more and more tests come with win32 error #5 (access denied), after few days all tests are with this error , restarting the hostmon service does not solve the problem, restarting the winxp where hostmon is running always solves this. I have now installed hostmon on a w2k3 machine, same problem occurs, after some time all tests come unknown with w32 error #5. I have read another post someone solved the issue by downgrading to v4.10, I installed v4.10 on yet another w2k3 machine, tested this for a week, no problems, then uninstalled v4.10, installed v5.70, after 2 days again same problems.
(same accounts, same tests, same test methods)
I now reboot the monitoring station every night.

strange thing is when I stop the service, then start as application (being logged in with the same account as is running the service) all tests work again, when stopping application and starting service same problem win32 error #5 until a reboot)

what can I do to solve this issue ?

thanks, igor L.

It's a well khown problem with windows shares. In your tests, try to substitute win share name with appropriate IP address, (e.g. replace \\Machine_Name\sharename\ to \\Machine_IP_Address\sharename\. In most cases it should help.
