"Service" test requires Power user privileges.
"Access is denied" error appears when HostMonitor's system cannot log in the the remote machine using necessary account.
"RPC server is unavailable" means local system cannot connect to remote machine at all.
Try to use IP address instead of hostname, it helps sometimes.
You said another system works file. You don't want to keep HostMonitor on that system?
All your systems located in the same network/domain?

 I have the same problem, but with a streange difference... If i use version 4.42, and i point to some server it is all ok, with the 4.80 version, same server, I have this error... How is it possible that the difference of version could do this?
i would like to be able to use the new benefits of the newer version...

Are you sure you have started version 4.42 and 4.80 on the same system in the same mode (service/application) under the same user account using the same settings?

You said HostMonitor works fine on another system. What is the difference between systems? Service Pack? Some updates?

Strange, we have not changed Service test method for a long time, since HostMonitor version 3. Connection procedures have not been changed as well.I have the same problem, but with a streange difference... Its solution, but we still don't know what problem isI have fixed the problem by connecting to the machines with dos-box and using the net use \\machine-name\folder-name.....
