Hi Alex,
Running Hostmonitor 4.70 (NOT as service) on Win2k Professional workstation. Am trying the action profile "Stop Service" to stop a particular service on the remote PC ( NT workstaion 4). Even after connect as 'Administrator', hostmonitor is not able to stop service.
Parametes field is left blank. Am I missing something?
Highly appreciate.
Arun. |

Please, check system log. HostMonitor records information about error when it cannot perform some action

I have now created the same username & password (the one running HM) with admin previleges on all monitored PCs and HM is able to stop the service on the remote PC. However, syslog keeps recording these messages.
10/24/2004 5:56:19 PM Error: Cannot connect to the Service Control Manager. The RPC server is unavailable.
10/24/2004 5:54:33 PM Error: Cannot stop service "WinGateEngine". Timeout (60 sec) expired
10/24/2004 9:38:06 AM Error: Cannot connect to the Service Control Manager. The remote procedure call failed.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Arun |

This error means HostMonitor initiated service shutdown but service did not stop within 60 sec.

This error means HostMonitor cannot connect to Service Control Manager, so it cannot control services...
Probably sometimes HostMonitor is able to connect to remote system, sometimes doesn't?
