Hi

After installation of the new HM 4.52 I get a "Program is corrupt!" during start/self test of the program.

Please help!

Kind regards
Mogens

Take 2: I tried installing it on another PC - no problem. !?!? I tried upgrading and/or uninstalling/installing with the same result.

???? Still needs help

I had exactly the same problem when I tried to install it onto a Windows XP workstation.

Tried downloading it again and comparing - exactly the same as previously downloaded.

Uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled and same problem.

I just checked both link
http://www.ks-soft.net/download/host-mon.exe
http://mirror1.ks-soft.mastak.com/download/host-mon.exe
it works fine on our testing systems...

Have you used one of these links?

Strange... PC1 and PC2 have the same or different hardware (especially I am interesting about processors)?

grantcs,
What processor (CPU) is used in your system?

Regards
Alex

If anyone else has the same problem, what processor is installed on your system?

Hi!

The "wrong" PC has a Intel Pentium 4 with 1.5 GHz processor (standard desktop PC - Acer Veriton 7200)
The ""god" PC has a Intel Centrino 1.6 HGz processor (laptop - Acer TravelMate 803LCi)

I downloaded the HM 4.52 from one of the links on your main webpage and it ok on my laptop so I don't think it the file it self. Maybe you could tell a little about what it's doing after it displays the first introduction windows and before it writes the green "OK" just besides "Self-test..." Maybe that way I can check if everything is "on it's place" on my system.

Regards
Mogens

I have uploaded test program: www.ks-soft.net/download/testcpu.exe
Could you put it into HostMonitor's directory and start it (on both systems)? This command line utility will display a number. Is this number the same on both systems? Or different?

Its because you did not put utility into HostMonitor's directory. Or may be hostmon.exe has read-only attribute?

Ups... sorry...

It writes CRC: A42D9F2C on both systems - and the HostMonitor Exe file is not read-only.

Just one information... it's my "monitoring" PC that I'm having trouble with. That means that I'm currently running HM 4.42 on the machine and I've tried upgrading and uninstalling/installing the new version 4.52 in every way that can be done. HM 4.42 is runing perfectly on the machine.

...and I also tried to install HM in C:\Program Files\HostMonitor4 instead of C:\Programmer\HostMonitor4 as we like to have our programs placed in Denmark Same result!

Kind Regards

Mogens

H'm.....
Could you try to download pure exe module (instead of packed into installation module)? Available at www.ks-soft.net/download/test/hostmon.exe
Or another version of this module (that is using old CRC) at www.ks-soft.net/download/test/hm445c.exe

The only explanation I have - different processors give a little different results when they work with floating point type

Anyway, I changed code of the self test. New package available at the same location
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/downpage.htm

Direct links:

Hi Alex

Thanks - it's working fine now!

About the problems with some processors and floating point types - I have head it before - maybe a visit to Intel.com will give an answer. As I remember it is something about the Pentium 4 processor...

Thanks again!

Regards
Mogens
