Hi,

I want to set up one RMA in a DMZ to monitor several standalone machines and foreign domains with different admin user names and passwords. I have installed the RMA on one machine in this DMZ. In Hostmonitor I tried to set up tests which connect to different machines (through the RMA) with user names and passwords which I specified in HostMonitor. This did not work. Each time I got 301 - access denied.

Isn't it possible to specify login and password for Windows RMA tests?

Markus

It is possible, HostMonitor sends login and password to the agent.
I can check what could be wrong but I need more information:
- what exactly test method do you use?
- version of HostMonitor?
- RMA version?

Alex

PS
- RMA is running as service or as application?
- what account do you use to start the agent? does it have necessary rights?

As a service but I also tried as an application.

as service: system and user with rights "log on as service"
as application: local administrator

As mentioned before: The RMA-machine is not in a domain and has different administrator credentials than the machines to be monitored. Therefore I need HM to pass through the account data.

Monitoring through the RMA works only if I run it under an account which has the same user name / password than the admin account of the machine to be monitored.

Markus

Service that is started under "local system" account cannot retrieve information from another system.
Under "local administrator" RMA should work, but...

Yeah.. we know about this problem. Sometimes when program calls Windows API to establish connection with remote system, Windows uses current user account instead of the account that is specified by application. Why? Unforunatelly we don't know

Probably you should install RMA on the system that is in domain?
