Authentication troubles

Post by ajilka »

Host monitor ist running on a standalone PC and should monitor service
on servers which are part of the same Domain . The Workstation on which
hostmonitor runs is in a "Workgroup" and not part of the monitored
Domain.Using Connect Manager to establish a connect to the servers of
this domain failed ( Warning:Cannot retrieve Service list).Making a "net
use" command to this servers with the same username an password works fine.

Any ideas ?

Regards

Alexander

1) Did you start HostMonitor as service? Or as application? If its started as service, have you specified account on Service page in the Options dialog?
2) Connection Manager cannot record error "Warning:Cannot retrieve Service list". I assume this message was displayed by Test Properties dialog? Could you please check "ConnMgr.Log" file, there should be message from Connection Manager (if logging is enabled).

Sorry for mylate answer. But I tried several things so i can give you more informations about this problem.

1.) I tried to start Host monitor as an application an also as a service with
the same result.Ialso tried authentication against the PDC of the domain

2.) Connmgr.log shows no error messages

3.) Itried to check services on an other server ( standalone ) which is part
of a separetly "Workgroup".There I dont have any problems . I donot
need any kind of authentication ( no "net use " an no configuration
in the connection manager ) and everything works fine .

So in my view it seems to be a problem If Itry to authenticate against
a domain .Do you have any other suggestions ?

Thanks

Sorry for delay. We checked source code to figure out why you don't see error description in the log file.
Code is correct.
So, there are 3 possibilities:
- logging is disabled. Could you please check "Log failed attempts" option?
- specified path to the log points to non accessible directory (in this case HostMonitor should display message in status bar). Could you check the path?
- probably HostMonitor does not try to establish connection. Could you please send connlist.lst file to support@ks-soft.net? We will check settings. What server (name) do you monitor?
