I suppose itīs a known problem that if you run HM as service and you want to change some tests in the application, alert mails will be sent twice.
One by application and another by service.
So one always have to stop either monitoring in the application or stop running the service.
So hereīs my question: Are there start options for hostmon.exe available that force to start application while monitoring already is stopped?
In command prompt for example "hostmon.exe /s" or something like that.
If not it perhaps will be a feature for versions of HM in future?

What I do is using scripts to stop and start the correct version. If I 'click' my shortcut, it will:

1. Stop HostMonitor running as a service
2. Start HostMonitor as an application
3. Wait for the HostMonitor application to quit.
4. Start the HostMonitor as a service as soon as the application has stopped.

All actions are logged and restricted to one user account.

Assigning the HostMonitor icon as the shortcut icon and you won't see the difference

http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.htm#options.htm#CmdParams
"HostMonitor /stop"

You need to stop service only if you access remote system (where HostMonitor is running) using Terminal Service. Otherwise you see
HostMonitor's icon in system tray and can configure service directly.

Marcus is right, better stop service before changing settings. Anyway you will need to restart service to apply changes.

Regards
Alex
