RCC For macOS

Post by TCH »

Hello,

macOS has started to gain traction in the Data Center NOC's across my world. Would it be possible to develop RCC for macOS ?

Thank you

We have such idea but I am not sure when it will be done.
I think Linux version will be released first, then macOS

Could we hire your company to develop a Native macOS RCC application?

MacOS build of the app would be greatly appreciated, we have no usecase for linux, but this one tool is only blocker for many of our users who want to migrate to macs.

Some update

We are working on RCC for Linux, over 60% of RCC modules already compiled on Linux.
There is still a lot of work ahead but I hope we will be able to show Beta version around March 2025.

Then it will be more easy to port RCC on macOS. But why?
You are using HostMonitor, this means you are monitoring some Windows systems, sometimes many thousand of them. Plus optionally you may monitor UNIX servers and various network devices.
I think its better to manage Windows servers using Windows client system, am I right?
Are you using a Mac because you mainly manage some network devices rather than Windows servers?

Many users? I am confused. Our software designed for network administrators and usually jut 1 or several admins manage HostMonitor.

First of all .. Happy 2025 !

Thats great news Alex.
I tried a Wine RCC installtion but that failed om Ubuntu destop & server editions.
Also tried Oracle Linux 8 & 9 but both failed :-(

So keep us updated !
Thanks for the effort Alex ( and team ;-) )

Happy New Year.
We are using WMWare systems and everything works fine, somehow I assumed RCC works under Wine as well. RCC just crashed on startup without any errors?

We already started Linux version of RCC, but its far from perfect application yet.

On the other hand we just tested wine-development on old Ubuntu 18 and it works fine. RCC starts out of the box without any adjustments and almost everything works fine. Yes, Test button for GSM options will not work; Trace utility requires special Linux permissions; GUI rendering a little bit slow; Help functions will work only with on-line help, couple other minor drawbacks comparing to Windows.
BUT native RCC for Linux will have the same limitations.

And there is Wine for macOS, probably RCC(Windows) works fine on mac as well?
(sure, RMA for Windows will not work on ARM processors)

So I am not sure we need to continue this work and then spend time on regular maintenance and updates
Wine can be installed within a minute and according to some stats over 30% of Linux desktop systems already have Wine installed.

If you have some problems with Wine+RCC, please start new thread or contact us by e-mail, provide details, logs..

Looks like new versions of Wine do not work well with many Windows 32bit (x86) applications, including standard RCC.
E.g. Wine version 3.6 on Ubuntu 18 works fine; Wine 9 on Ubuntu 24.04 does not work.

We have RCC x64 version with some Wine related improvements, works under Wine 9.
Its not available to everyone yet but if you need it or just would like to test it, please contact support by e-mail
