Got Host Monitor installed and working fine on a server. A few dozen tests (running every 5 minutes or so).

I have enabled RCI for allowing remote web page access for monitoring.

This also works fine.

However, the connections from the remote browser page refresh and refresh and refresh every 1 - 2 seconds so not allowing the dashboard page to render.

Any idea how to slow down the browser web page update refreshing so often or to even stop it entirely so the updates can be done manually?

Thanks

Jonathan

Every 5 sec by default.
Could you please explain why this is a problem? web page blinks?
What exactly page blinks? DashBoard pane? Other pages works fine?
What web browser do you use?

Add line like WS2RefreshTime=15 line into [HTML] section of webservice.ini file and restart webservice

Thanks for your reply Alex.

The issue I have is on the client side I think. The whole web page in the client browser tries to render (same happens with Chrome and Edge) but as it draws the page it then suddenly reloads. It almost flashes it is so fast as the whole page tries to reload again and again. Not just part of it. It's like someone is hitting F5 every 1 second. It doesn't give the page a chance to draw properly.

My webserve.ini on the server has the following settings. I've tried altering these with a restart but changes don't seem to make much difference.

[HTML]
AutoRefresh=0
RefreshTime=60
CompactAutoRefresh=0
CompactRefreshTime=60

Is there a client based value that can be set? Or a way of troubleshooting what is firing the reload on the page?

Thanks

(Yes, aware that the version is 13.08!)

What exactly pane/panel reloads? There are various pages offered by web service... may be you are using web interface v1 (kept for very old browsers)? or compact or tiny interfaces?

Thanks Alex. Will do.

Aha. In the meantime I see something else. As the page tries to load (again and again) it seems to almost finish and then very briefly displays towards the bottom of the screen (in red):-

Connection error
abort
abort

And then "Loading..."

Ahhh. I found a solution too...

Added the server URL to chrome://settings/cookies and the problem went away!

Thanks Alex. Sorry for your time.

We still cannot reproduce the problem. Even if we disable all cookies, it does not blinks/reloads. Just cannot pass authentication.
What browser plug-ins do you have installed?

Quite a few plug-ins to be fair.

I’m assuming it was a local problem at my client.

It’s working now so client us happy.

Thanks.

Jonathan.

You are welcome.
Please note: if you are providing monitoring services to 3rd party, you need Service Provider License

When I say ‘client’ I mean my client PC. My client PC is happy. I don’t have a 3rd party.
