Conditional Alert Profile ? (based on folders variable)

Post by KarlZ »

First of all: Thanks for great product and really great and fast support.
I am using the product for a lot of years. Currently I redesign things for some customers.

I want to define tests based on folder's variables. This is great and allows simple copying of test without any change of the test itself --> really productive way to work with the product.

Question:
I would like to select an alert profile based on a folder's information.

Sample:
- If a ping-test is inside Folder1 it should send e-mail, if connection has been lost
- If the same test (without changing the test!) is in Foloder2 - it should do some other (or none) action

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks
Karl.

Sorry, there is no such option.
But I think its very easy to change alert profile for single test or set of tests.
Also variables can be used when you need the same action(s) with different parameters (e.g. different e-mail recipients).
Sample:
- If a ping-test is inside Folder1 it should send e-mail, if connection has been lost
- If the same test (without changing the test!) is in Foloder2 - it should do some other (or none) action
If you copy test, HostMonitor creates new item. Its not the same test even if all parameters are the same.

Please note: if you provide monitoring service to 3rd party, you need SPL (Service Provider License). As we see there is no license linked to your e-mail.

Thanks.

our customers have licenced the product. We sold the license to them. Maybe that these licenses are matched to another mail.

But there must be an (older) license for our company for internal purposes, too.
I'll check this.

Thanks
Karl.

If each customer owns its own license then they can use regular licenses (like Started, Advanced), SPL license is not required.
