I a looking for a method to "logical" duplicate a test. But I would like to centrally edit and maintain the "Original-Test".

First I thought, that a link can do this job. But the problem with links seems to be that they do NOT refer to their own folder - they refer to the folder of the original test.

Let explain, what I am looking for, with a simple Ping-Test:

Folder1: "PC1" contains a Ping Test and some folder properties (eg. fvar_fqdn=PC1.Sample.com.
Then I refern to fvar_fqdn inside the ping test.

Now I want to "copy" the ping-test to Folder PC2 - without need to change the test itself.

If i use a simple Copy, then it works as I should, but I really have to change every copy of the test, if I need some changes...

If i use the Link-Funktion, the problem is, that the linked instance does NOT refer to its own folder - it refers to the original "Parent-Folder"

Is there a way to change the parent folder to the links own folder?
Or is there some other method to do the job?

I want to centrally maintain tests, and only copy them to different folders. The testparameters should be varibales inside the folder's properties.

Thanks for info and help!
Regards
Karl.

So you actually need different test parameters?
Then you cannot use links, you should create separate test items. Link is just a link to the test, allows to display the same item in several folders.
