|
|
Hello
I would like a user-defined category that can be set per test through a drop down in the test properties window. I would like a separate menu to define what is to be selected in the drop down list and be able to log this along with the test.
This is to group tests we wish to be able to run reports on in our reporting tools.
Today we use the comment field, but this means that it may fail because of misspellings and similar.

Not sure I understand. Usually we use Folders to group test items for reports.
Are you using Views with "select items using expression" option to group tests for various reports?
Then you need some variable that can be used in expressions?
selected in the drop down list and be able to log this along with the test
and you need additional field in log files?
Regards

We are using ODBC logging to an SQL Server database and our own report tool.
I would need to be able to group test from diffrent folders in categorys to be able to extract them from the SQL Server to our reporting tool.
Today we extract on testid but this mean if a new test is added the report would need to be updated.
If I would be able to set a category in HM and add this to our log with some variable the reporting tool could select data by category and then the a new test would be added to the report.
