|
|
Hi,
anyone know why I have this output in the event log?
Event Type: Error
Event Source: HostMonService
Event Category: None
Event ID: 2001
Date: 5/29/2012
Time: 10:50:18 AM
User: N/A
Computer: TWGESAP53
Description:
The description for Event ID ( 2001 ) in Source ( HostMonService ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: HostMonitor a détecté "SNMP sysUpTime" "Bad" "358503".
It's kind of annoying to see all the event like that and it take some time to actually see the data correctly.
Thanks |

HostMonitor does not record such event by itself.
Probably you played with settings and added "Log Event" action into some action profile. You may check your action profiles using menu Profiles->Action profiles.

Yes, I did add a Log Event action in my Action Profil.
What annoy me is not the event by itself, it's the fact that there's a problem with the event that is being log : "The description for Event ID ( 2001 ) in Source ( HostMonService ) cannot be found".
Is it because of the way the program is executed? Should I use another program like eventcreate that do not have this problem?
Thanks |

I think it is because HostMonitor does not register event with ID 2001.
We have to check what IDs registered by HostMonitor...

Its more complicated than I though. We start to pack hostmon.exe module, that's why Windows cannot find string resources necessary for Event Viewer.
Looks like we need to create separate resource DLL for the events...

Not sure what version of HostMonitor do you use and what license do you have...
If you are using version 9.18, then you may update to version 9.19 (unofficial release) that will fix the problem
www.ks-soft.net/download/hm919.exe
Otherwise please check your license against latest version using menu Help->Update check or send request to sales@ks-soft.net

We are at version 9.18.
We are in the process to buy a licence (Advanced Host Monitor Enterprise edition + Lifetime updates) so this is not an issue.
I'll update my installation with this version.
I'll let you know if I still have a problem |

When you say "unofficial release", does this means that it might still change? |

Why do you need some other version?
We plan to implement some new features, only then release new version

I'm not sure I follow you
You said that 9.19 was an "Unofficial release"
I just wanted to know if the file you point me to (http://www.ks-soft.net/download/hm919.exe) will be updated again or if it's going to be the latest release for this version?
If it will not change, I will update all my servers with it.
thanks |

This is just update for you. There is no new manual, no "what's new" information, etc.
If you need this fix right away, you may use it. If you don't really need it, you may wait for official release (version 9.20).

When we implement some new cool features.
Do you need exact date? There is no such date.
