Alex, when I do maintenance on tests, or add a bunch of new ones, or do testing, I turn off the Behavior: Alert Reactions, so that the admins are not assaulted with multiple false alarms. The problem is that Sometimes I forget to turn the reactions back on, and miss on a bunch of emergencies that come up and do not alert us.
The alert reactions feature is kinda hidden and you don't really know if it's off unless you go into the Options: Behavior section.
The request is to have a large button that says "Alerts On" and "Alerts Off" on the interface. Additionally, (for old forgetfull farts like me) the Alerts Reactions Automatic On feature should be instituted. Say, if the alerts are not turned on manually for n minutes, email the admins, and turn them on automatically.
What do you think?
P.S. Oh, by the way, the INI file keeps the proxy password and the logging ODBC connection password un-encrypted, whereas the service password is encrypted... and that's quite unacceptable security-wise.

Great, thank you so much! I d. hope however, that Alerts On will appear when alerts are _enabled_
How about the automatic Alerts On after n minutes of Off? That one is important.

I wonder if "d" in that release stands for Dimmy. Now that's exciting - I have been memorialized!
Back to seriousness - the most important part was the automatic return to Alerts On condition. Is that possible to do?
I made for the time being a little script that checks every hour for the "AlertsDisabled=1" string in hostmon.ini and if it's there, switches it to "0" and restarts Hostmomn services. It's a little drastic, so I am waiting for the word from you... |
