Oracle client allows to setup timeout.
Also we recommend to use ODBC Query test, it allows you to specify timeout as well. We keep old Oracle, Interbase, MS SQL tests for compatibility.
On the other hand... its better to not check that Oracle at all. Oracle client software (especially ODBC drivers) often has bugs that leads to various problems.
As we know the most stable Oracle client - version 9

I use Oracle client 8.x. Test method - ODBC query test. Timeout in HM ODBC query test - 10sec. But I have situation when all my Oracle ODBC query test in status "Checking" for big time and nothing help - Only restart HM service help me.
I can't change my oracle client because I test Oracle server v.7.3.4.
Q:Why timeout in ODBC query test don't work when my test in status checking over 10 sec? |

As we know Oracle clients version 8.x have a lot of bugs. Timeout related problem is not the worst problem it can make. It may lead to application crash
Oracle client version 10.x has bugs as well...
As we know the most stable Oracle client - version 9g
