No alert profiles work anymore

Post by kongsjs »

Hi

After patching the Hostmonitor server in the weekend with normal windows patches we cannot get any of the alert profiles to work.
Everything looks OK, the test's run as normal, but when there is a failure nothing happens. No e-mails, no SMS, can’t run DOS jobs anymore.

We have a other Hostmonitor server as well, and that works perfectly after patching. But I cannot use this because this is dedicated to other work.

I tried to upgrade to version 8.14, but that didn’t help.
I don’t get any errors in the log files either.

This is of course very serious for us.
Any help is appreciated

Well, we receive such reports every week. In 99.9% of all cases operator disables alerts using menu Monitoring -> Disable alerts and then forget about this
If you see "Enable alert" button on tool bar, just click the button.
Otherwise, please check the following article http://www.ks-soft.net/cgi-bin/phpBB/vi ... php?t=4804
it tells you what logs/settings should be checked.

Thanks a lot Alex. That was the problem. Now it is working again.
I have never used that option, but we have a new guy that is taking over the responsible, and I guess he have pressed that button. I normaly press "Stop Monitoring" when we patch.

And thanks for your fast answer, now I can sleep good again.

No problem :)
BTW: If several persons have access to HostMonitor, you may delegate different set of rights for each operator. E.g. you may provide "start/stop monitoring" permission to single person (to yourself).
