|
|
Hi,
I´m trying to configure a test to check the load time of an https page ( https://www.autotrac-online.com.br/supervisor/pages/login.aspx). It´s no necessary to login to this page but I would like to monitor the load time. The problem is that the reply time of Hostmon is way bellow the time it takes to load the page in IE: hostmon says the reply time is about 1 second and using IE the time is about 20 seconds.
I´m I missing something?
Thanks for helping.
Regards,

Under Advanced parameters, modify the test to search for some content on the page (something loaded last), or if the page is static use a checksum. Without this HM is just checking for a response form the server. |

I looked at this page, and the page itself loads quite quickly. It is the flash that seems to take a while. I am not sure what can be done about this. |

BillB is right. By default HostMonitor does not download content of the specified URL and just shows the server response time. To get the load time, you should use "check content" option and/or enable "Download nested frames" and "Download images" options. Quote from the manual:
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mframe.htm#tests.htm#url
=====================================
Download nested frames
Select this box if you want to retrieve the all frames referenced in a frameset and count their retrieval time in the total time to download this page. If "Download images" is also checked, HostMonitor will attempt to retrieve all images in all frames. In case the program successfully retrieve page specified in the URL field but cannot receive one of the nested frames, HostMonitor will mark test as "Bad contents".
Download images
Enable this option if you want the status and response time statistics to include the retrieval time for all of the embedded images in the page. Embedded images include those referenced by <IMG> HTML tags. Images that appear more than once in a page are only retrieved once. In case the program successfully retrieves the page specified in the URL field but cannot receive one of images, HostMonitor will mark test as "Bad contents".
=====================================

Hi Max,
I´ve configured the test the way you suggested but stiil getting different results:
- Using httpswatch software to measure load time => 1,695 seconds;
- Using hostmon the load time => 0,125 seconds;
I feel something is missing...
Thanks,
Jromariz. |

On our system HostMonitor needs 2-4 seconds to download this page. As I see its pretty simple page. Probably IE needs a lot of time to execute specified Java scripts while HostMonitor does not execute any scripts.
