"Failed to set data for DATA1" means you do not have necessary rights to modify registry. What Windows do you use? If you have installed HostMonitor on Vista or Window Server 2008, please, start it using "Run as Administrator" option. You just should right click on HostMonitor's icon and select the "Run As Administrator" option from popup menu.

As alternative, you upgrade to version 7.20, where some modifications were made in order to avoid problems related to UAC subsystem on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.
Version 7.20 is available to download at our site: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/downpage.htm

Bingo, Vista security and 7.18 seem to be the problem.

I downloaded 7.18. Run As Admin in and of itself did not fix the problem. 7.20 fixed the problem.

FYI, before I upgraded, this issue caused me to lose my test list. After I shut down and restarted the 7.18 HM, HM asked to convert the actions.lst and actions.hml. I cancelled and the saved my test list to bret.hml, then restarted HM again and was asked again to convert the tets lists. I did, but it destroyed my test list. It wasn't in the backup hml file; the backup was empty (just a Root folder when loaded).

Glad to hear that.

It was caused by Vista virtualization routine. I suppose, you may find your test list (bret.hml) somewhere in your C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ folder.
Anyway, such a behavior should not appear in version 7.20

Sorry for this :( I assume this problem was caused by Vista "virtual files"
As you may see "officially" HostMonitor cannot work on Vista
http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/index-sysreq.htm
We recommend to use Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows 2003 SP1/SP2

We still testing version 7.20 on Vista, probably this version will be "officially" approved for Vista and Windows 2008. But we still don't like Vista.
Just like we did not like Windows XP, it had too many bugs. XP SP2 works much better. Probably Vista XP2 will be good OS as well.
