Upgrading from 5.22beta to 7.18

Post by dave.edwards »

Hi,

We've been using hostmon for a while now and we're thinking of upgrading to gain access to some new functionality.

However, there's a lot of time invested in creating the test lists and I'm wondering how we will go upgrading 2 major versions.

Does anyone know if we are likely to face any problems using the HML test lists?

Should we upgrade to a version 6 first and then to version 7?

Nice product BTW :-)

Theoretically, update procedure should go smoothly. "Update/repair" option updates previously installed Advanced Host Monitor to a newer version while keeping all your settings unchanged. Installation program will overwrite all executable modules of previously installed HostMonitor, help files, etc; all user settings will remain intact. However, I should say we never tested such update, so, we recommend to backup all *.hml, *.lst and *.ini files from HostMonitor's folder before update. Just in case.

Please, read the following article for details: http://www.ks-soft.net/hostmon.eng/mfra ... tm#Install

You may upgrade to version 7+ directly.
