ODBC errors

Post by DJBvanderVelden »

HI,

I am using HM for a long time. Since we moved to another town and using a Third Party Acces to the servers we have often problems with the ODBC tests.
Using the testbutton in edit-mode the error message is:
Error 4294967295":[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Too many
client tasks ":[Microsoft][ODBC Driver manager]Driver's SQLSetConnnectAttr failed
When after a while these messages disapear then
Using the Test button in the Edit mode the answer is what I expect.
What can be the reason and is there an option to clear this problem?
The status of the main message is "Unknown" and we do not have any monitoring during that period.

Could you provide more information, please?
- What version of HostMonitor do you use?
- What Windows do you use? Service Pack?
- Is HostMonitor started as a service or as an application?
- What exact ODBC driver do you use?
- What exact "Third Party Acces" did you mention? RDP? Terminal Service? VNC? PCanywhere?
- Do you use RCC to access HostMonitor on remote server?
- Where do you see "Too many clients" error? In "Reply" field? When you open some dialog?

Could you send the screen-shot with this error to support@ks-soft.net?

Regards,
Max

We are using HM 6.80,

Windows 2000 SP4,

Hostmonitor started as application

ODBC driver for ACCESS and then ASPENTECHSQLplus;

I am investigating what kind of TPA we use. When I get the answer I let you know.

We do not use RCC,

See attachments in the mail I've sent to you

In fact, "Access" is not designed for performance in multi-user environments and begins to quicly degrade once you hit about 10 simultaneous connections.
I would suggest you to enable "Enable connection pooling" option located in "Options" -> "Miscellaneous" tab -> "ODBC related options" area.

If it does not help, you may move all "ODBC Query" tests into some particular folder and enable folder-level "Non-simultaneously test execution" option (right click on folder -> "Properties" -> "Specials" tab).
With this option enabled tests that located in the folder will not be executed at the same time. Test items located in different folders may be executed simultaneously even in case option is set for all of these folders.

Max
