Hi All,
As the title - I have a shell script method test, than I know returns 'Unknown' on our NT4 boxes. My normal alert profile, attached to this test, resets the test interval to a minute, then allows alerting to start (mail, SMS) after another few fails.
I have ticked 'treat unknown as bad', but the test interval hasn't been set to 1 a minute like I see in other tests.
Anything obvious to check?
HM 6.82 on W2K3 running a shell script method test (VBScript to check diskspace) which works as esxpected in a normal good/bad state scenario.
Treat Unknown as Bad doesn't work?

Sorry, I cannot reproduce the problem.
Do you see any errors in System Log (file is specified in "Options" -> "System Log" tab). You may access the system log using menu "View" -> "System Log". Please ensure the "Record info about successful actions" and "Record info about failed actions" options are enabled in "Options" -> "System Log" tab
Could you export this particular test into file and send it to support@ks-soft.net? Could you also send the screen-shot of the "Action properties" window of the "Change test interval" action, that is assigned to the test, mentioned above?
Regards,
Max

Got it. Do not see any special... Also you forgot to send the screen-shot of the "Action properties" window of the "Change test interval" action.jivetolkein wrote:Mail on its way in about 5 minutes...
Looks like action was not started for some reason. Could you enable "Repeat until status changes" option in "Action Properties" window and test it again?jivetolkein wrote:Can't see anything in the systemlog above the normal actions i.e. don't see the test interval get reset, but DO see a mail being sent after x failures as planned! Very strange...

Solved!
Gap in my knowledge rather than a problem - as the test doesn't ever get a good state, there is no state change to trigger the event - but 5 unknowns are 5 bads as far as the mail actions are concerned so they work..
Thanks to Max for the walkthrough!
