Test by NetBios Name

Post by THEngels »

Hello everyone,

I've got sort of a problem, the company where I am currently working once installed a Standard Licensed HostMonitor 5.92 on a clients server environment. It has worked fine ever since.
However, yesterday there has been a power outtage at that specific client's company, since then, the tests in HostMonitor do not work anymore if I use \\servername as a path for example in the System Uptime test.
However if I user \\servername.domainname.com or even \\*ip_address* it works fine.
Pinging by name and Ping -A works fine without big delays and the name is resolved almost instant. I reconfigured WINS, checked DNS, everything seems to be in working order.
The only thing that changed is that there was a router removed, but that router was for external access and I can't imagine that this was of any influence on the HostMonitor tests.

I hope you guys can help me out on this one, thanks in advance for any ideas :D

P.S.: It isn't a major issue of course, more of a nuassance =/

I think, command "netsh winsock reset" should help. You should execute it from command line. Please note: restart is required after command's execution.
